What causes acid rain?


Acid rain is caused by chemicals such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere. These chemicals are found in car exhaust. They also come from burning coal and oil. These chemicals combine with water vapour in the air and fall from the sky in raindrops. The rain is more acidic than it usually would be.
